Living with a degenerative spine condition can be tough. It can severely limit your ability to move around and can be the cause of severe back pain. You have either experienced this condition yourself or you know someone who currently suffers from back pain. For most of us, the pain will eventually subside without any medical intervention required. However, for others, back pain is a chronic problem. When that is the case, it’s vital to engage in both pain management as well as to treat the underlying conditions. Today, there are many different treatment options available for back pain. Here at the Center for Spine Care in Dallas, we offer regenerative treatments for the following conditions:
- Osteoarthritis of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, spine, hip, knee, ankle
- Degenerative Disc Disease of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae
- Annular Tear/Discogenic Pain
- Degenerative Joint Disease of shoulder, elbow, knee, hip
- Spondylosis of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine
- Impingement Syndrome of the shoulder and hip
- Overuse injuries like tennis elbow, runner’s knee, bursitis, and tendinopathies
- And more

What is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine entails creating new, healthy tissue to replace the tissue that has become worn down or lost functionality due to age, congenital defects, or disease. When it comes to spinal disc conditions, regenerative medicine can be a solution in and of itself or it can supplement other treatments.
Chronic back pain generally starts from some type of injury to the intervertebral disc (IVD). As that disc begins to weaken, what occurs is called a “degenerative cascade”, where spinal deformities, stenosis, and nerve root compression may occur. Most adults over the age of 60 have some degree of spinal deformity. You can get surgery to treat these conditions. For example, you can get an artificial disc replacement. Surgery can be an effective solution, but it really is only our last method to resort to, as there are other, less invasive solutions to be tried first. The least invasive types of medical interventions for your spinal problem? Regenerative treatments. Here are three types of regenerative spinal treatment:
#1: Stem Cell Therapy
Cellular allografts/autografts (autograft is taken from the patient; allograft is taken from a donor) can contain mesenchymal stem cells that may differentiate into different cells, helping to heal the body. Stem cell therapy can be performed for a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle conditions. Here at the Center for Spine Care, we use stem cell therapy for spine treatment; to help heal the discs of your spine. However, stem cell therapy is only the beginning of the regenerative treatments we can conduct for you.
#2: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP helps promote tissue repair and speeds up the healing process. We can inject a concentrated dose of platelets into damaged areas to help improve your recovery experience.
#3: Lipogems
Lipogems injection is a non-invasive therapy that utilizes reparative cells in fat to aid in the repair, replacement, and reconstruction of damaged spinal tissue. Certain kinds of lower back pain and osteoarthritis can benefit from the injection of Lipogems tissue.
Why Choose Regenerative Spine Therapy?
Regenerative therapy is an excellent, conservative way to start treating your back pain or spine injury. The benefits of regenerative solutions are:
- Pain reduction
- Shorter recovery time after treatment
- Promotes natural healing
- A way to avoid or delay surgery
- It doesn’t require anesthesia
- Decreased inflammation, compared to surgery
- It’s is usually an outpatient procedure
